Computer System Requirements
The basic requirement for GuitarPort is a PC with Windows XP, Windows 98SE, Windows ME or Windows 2000 installed, plus a Pentium III 500 MHz or better processor (Cyrix and K6 processors will not work with GuitarPort), and at least one available USB port (USB cable included). 128MB RAM is recommended. The PC must also satisfy these technogeek requirements: USB 1.1 and AGP Graphics; PC must be "legacy free" no ISA cards and all peripherals operating in DMA mode. GuitarPort can work with other Windows audio applications that support ASIO, DirectSound or MME. GuitarPort requires DirectX 8a and Internet Explorer 6 or better and both are included on the GuitarPort CD-ROM. When using GuitarPort hardware, any USB hub used must have its own separate power supply connection rather than receiving power from the computer only via USB.

Audio System Requirements
In order to listen to GuitarPort, you will also need powered multimedia speakers for use with your computer, or a stereo system with audio inputs, or headphones. GuitarPort includes stereo mini (eighth-inch) and stereo RCA outputs for interfacing to music and sound equipment. Plus, of course, you're going to need an electric guitar.

Internet Connection Highly Recommended
If you want to access the optional GuitarPort Online features, you will need an Internet connection, with Internet access provided by an Internet Service Provider.

Will keep this as long as I play as it meets my needs. Maybe a stomp box or pedal effect would replace it. I would definitely buy a replacement if it breaks out of warranty or is lost or stolen.
Sound
For practice and familiarization with effects, this is great. Lots of sound variants, tones are very close to the sound you hear on recordings by artists like Hendrix.
Features
Just a USB cable and CD software. The software is the key to the usefulness of this device as the tones and tools such as metronome and tuner are part of the software interface.
Ease of Use
Very intuitive interface. Easy to change and modify tones. Lends itself to experimentation. Sounds great over headphones and I assume external speakers.
Quality
Looks very well made - haven't owned and used it long enough to test durability. It looks solid.
Value
For a practice tool, this is great as long as you have a computer to support it. It WILL NOT work without a computer so you are tied to either you desktop or laptop and you must also have an internet connection for the services. Nevertheless, it fulfills my current requirement for a fun little practice tool.
Manufacturer Support
Have not had need to contact the company. Some problems with connecting to the services that interact with the Guitarport. There is a user discussion forum that is helpful.
The Wow Factor
I like the compactness and the layout of input and output jacks and volume control
