Rock and Roll was built on tube distortion. This pedal is a 2-channel guitar preamp that delivers smooth, vintage distortion.

"Boutique quality and design for the working musician." The sound is classic rock 'n roll.

High-quality, two-channel, guitar preamp. Uses a duet of premium, mil-spec, subminiature, USA-made Phillips-Sylvania 6021 dual triode tubes. Great for country, blues, surf, classic rock.

The high-plate voltage and 100% vacuum tube signal path allows the tubes to operate at their fullest potential and provide maximum dynamic range. The means you get the most gain and all the smooth tone you expect from a high-quality tube preamp. Two channels provide versatility. True bypass. Fully encapsulated toroidal transformer for quiet operation. Heavy duty steel chassis.

The Twin Tube Classic is a two-channel guitar preamp that uses a duet of subminiature 6021 dual-triode vacuum tubes and is voiced to evoke the classic sounds that define rock and roll. The new-old-stock, USA-made Phillips Sylvania 6021s represent the pinnacle of tube technology. They were designed and manufactured to meet the U.S. Government's MIL-E-1 spec for reliability under conditions of severe shock, vibration, and temperature. They provide extremely long service life and exhibit virtually no tendency toward microphonics.

High-quality vacuum tubes are only part of the key to a great-sounding tube preamp. Too often, inexpensive tube gear runs in "starved plate mode," where the tubes function like clipping diodes and do not actually amplify. The Twin Tube Classic employs a fully encapsulated, toroidal transformer to achieve read more the high plate voltage required for true tube amplification. The 100% vacuum tube signal path with a high-voltage power supply allows the tubes to operate at their fullest potential. The result is maximum dynamic range, the most gain, the smoothest tone, and the low-order harmonics one expects from a great tube preamp.

The Twin Tube Classic is a two-channel device, with a volume and gain control for each channel. It effectively provides three channels to a single-channel amp: Rhythm, Lead, and bypass. Voiced for classic rock tones, the Rhythm channel goes from a hint-of-grit to moderate crunch and the Lead channel goes from chunky overdrive to thick distortion. The Twin Tube Classic also features true bypass with gold relays, up to 90 dB of gain, a silent switching circuit designed to eliminate pops and clicks when changing channels, and a heavy-duty chassis with a candy copper paint job and stylish "chicken head" knobs. A 16-volt AC transformer is also included.

This pedal is wonderful,I'll always have it on my pedal board. I would like to find one that didn't rely on "tubes", but that is a pipe dream because NOTHING ELSE sounds like natural tube distortion.

Sound
I've been playing for 30 years, trying to find "the perfect tone". This pedal comes as close as I've ever gotten...I set channel one for a milder distortion and set channel two for as much as I need for the lead tone. I love the individual gain and volume controls for each channel.I play a PRS CE and a mex Strat through it, The guitars require individual adjustments, but it performs well with both!

Features
An AC adapter comes with it, but it is not a 9 volt, and requires a separate plug.

Ease of Use
This pedal is very intuitive, and is easy to adjust "on the fly". The "chicken head" knobs are a good feature, you can see at a glance how much distortion you have dialed in.

Quality
The metal case is very sturdy,as are the footswitches. It uses some small "tubes" to create the distortion, and as we all know tubes wear out. I had mine for several years without ANY problems...,then it started to have "noisy tube syndrome".

Value
This pedal is expensive, but the effect you get makes it a bargain. Now, it lists for over $225, but I got it at guitar show several years ago for $180. That still is less than a lot of the "boutique" read more distortions on the market. If you can try one out,do so. I know I love mine!

Manufacturer Support
Since I'd had the pedal for several years, I thought the warranty had expired. I took it to a great local amp/effect repair shop and told them I thought it was the "tubes". The shop told me that they couldn't find the parts, so they were going to contact Seymour Duncan to find them. Seymour Duncan said it was still under warranty, and fixed it for FREE!! I am VERY impressed with their service, it sounds like new!

The Wow Factor
It is not a sexy pedal, it is a functional one. When I had it serviced, I tried other pedals, but none even came close.

Musical Background:
part-time, weekend warrior (gainfully employed)

Musical Style:
classic rock and blues rock
