"Tuned Reference my ... (only the low-end response that is)"

Feature:
- They are big, 8" woofers will always muffle the mids+highs on speakers like these, No trims to cmopensate for own taste, Bass is too f much. Very fatiguing, Sounds too muffled and boxy if you do not trim the bass down. + They look classy, thats all. All black with a silver nameplate and a green light.

Quality:
Very well built, insides also very neatly soldered and tugged. ONLY!! 1 tweeter was popping out when I got them. The screws easily fall out during transport and did damage the bass driver-unir just a tiiiny bit, nothing much.. Smell nice too..

Value:
In europe they go for 666 euro a pair. Thats about $800? Im pretty pissed I got these, but more pissedcuz I believed Event opn their word and just blindly bought them without listeningin stores. Please. Listen before you buy. Tastes vary, and what might sound like crap to me, could sound awesome to you.. The american pricing seems fair. Europe pricing is just a little too high for these..

Desirability:
The sex-appeal is conservative on these. Look sleek on the forn, the depth is large. You really need space to put these. The Bassportis what you wuld expect form others just a little better but srill.

Sound:
Out of the box, with the trim set at 10 or 11 o-clcok, they are LOUD! Will easily fill yer room. Highs and Mids sound honest and you really get what you put in,BUT, only after trimming the BASS-end!!!! Yes, That bass is way too f. loud! So loud it makes these sound muffled and boxy out of the box cuz the bass overwhelmes the highs and mids. I cant understand the Event-engineers designed the bass to be so high in volume in contrast to the mids and highs, ARE THEY DEAF??? whats up with these guys? After trimming the bass equally with an eaualizer, you get pretty good response, but not the best. You also get alot of boomy bass form them, too much for my taste. You easily over-compensate and your mixes will translate too lifeless cuz you trimmed the bass down too much woth these Events... Again, whats up with those engeneers at Event? I was hoping for speakers that neednt much trimming and sounded good out of the box, I was dissapointed. Not bad, but not the best. The BASS-end is the worst part of these, cuz it is just too much. And it doesnt come woth trims on the back tocpmensate for your own taste. A BIG TWO POINTS DOWN

Ease of Use:
Easy to install, setup, maybe has a narrow sweetspot. Trimming the bass is a f chore. The bas is way too loud, no trims to easily sompensate. VERY VERY BAD. Tuned Refference my A...

Support:
Yes, their email response is just sad. I dont think their priority is on helping customers who bought these fair and square, If you need help contact the salesperson you bought these from. I don't think Event is open to suggestions either. Only praise (thats when I did get an email back) My 2c.

Overall:
The sound quality snt bad after trimming the bass. It doesnt have bass trims on its back. A big Minus if you ask me. Because they made the bass driver too f loud. Im already looking for a new pair. And selling these. Whoever has a btter treated room and likes a lot of bass, can have em. Im loking for more clarity and alot more tight punch. I cannpt bring these back, thats a minus. So either I wil have to learn and deal with them (with an equalizer to trim the bass and they are good to go) or I will sel these and get cheaper speakers with a smaller Bass-driver. 8" is just too much for my taste.

""Tuned Reference hits the target""

Feature:
When they called them "Tuned Reference" monitors, they hit the target. No need for all the tweaking adjustments. Very simple to hook up. RCA, 1/4 inch or XLR inputs can accommodate most any application. Me likes.

Quality:
Heavy and sturdy. They look a bit plain but couldn't tell it in the mix. Neat, clean and black monitors fit with most any environment.

Value:
For the money I'm impressed and very pleased.

Desirability:
The look and performance of these monitors makes them desirable. Neat, clean, attractive. I think they "look good" sitting in my studio. I intend to keep them for a long time, in fact, I may just hang on to these.

Sound:
These speakers deliver a smooth and honest reference for my mixes. I was impressed by the non-fatiguing flow of sound. Good EQ reference throughout. Low end surprisingly accurate for this size speaker. I'm very impressed by these monitors. If just plain true is what you like, these speakers will deliver.

Ease of Use:
Nuttn' to it...Just plug em in, turn em on and take off. They work really well. Very simple to use.

Support:
Have not needed any repairs.

Overall:
I don't expect to need any different monitors unless I do a complete studio upgrade, in which case I might add some other bigger monitors while still using these for my nearfields.

Description
Docs
Do your mixes suffer from buried vocals, overwhelming bass, screetchy guitars, or other sonic unpleasantries? No doubt your monitors simply aren't giving you an accurate picture of what's going on in your mix. How to make the problems go away? Switch to Event monitors -- the monitors famous for their "mixes you can trust" sound. (Just ask the people who have won Grammy awards for mixes they've done on them.)

And now it's easier than ever to make the switch. Introducing the Tuned Reference 5 and Tuned Reference 8. Their names tell the whole story: These monitors are precision tuned to provide flat frequency response and uncolored sound, giving you a true sonic reference for mixing. So when you mix on a Tuned Reference monitor, you know your mixes will translate accurately to other playback systems. (Which is, after all, the whole point.)

You might think that this level of mix precision comes at a high price. But thanks to a powerful new ultra-efficient amplifier (actually 2 of them, since these are biamplified systems), Event's able to bring you high definition, non-fatiguing monitoring at prices so low they're downright silly. But don't let the cost fool you: The TR series monitors are filled with time-tested Event technology, and designed by the same engineering team behind our full line of critically acclaimed monitors.

So pick up a pair of TR monitors today at your favorite music store. Your mixes will thank you.
