For years I have been using a DOD bass flange pedal
which sounds great but lacked control. Now I can warp
my sound with complete control of speed and depth.
The Morely bass wah is switchless, so you dont have to
press down on the pedal to engage the effect, which can
be a hassle when you are trying to concentrate on what
your left hand is doing. And the volume control keeps
you in control from blowing away the guitarist, unless
thats what you want. I like it a lot.
I use it in my hard rock band, Great Girls Blouse, out
of Minneapolis, MN. We play some tunes that could
be considered funk, but thats not why I got it. I use
it mostly on slower, droning riffs, bridges and sparce
bass lines or lines high on the neck that dont punch with
volume and need some effect to get attention.
I also keep a DOD bass overdrive within foots reach when
on stage. I have yet to use the Morely in the studeo so
I dont yet know if it gets noisy or not. But I know that
most Morely pedals are not recomended for use in effect
loops, which I am not fond of anyway. I like to keep
things right in line with instrument, thus maximizing
the pedal's effect.
