Overall:
This product does everything it says it will and more. The dual capabilities work perfectly for our church. I have not found this unit to be any more of a battery "predator" than any other wireless mic system. It DOES have an on/off capability, you simply need to hold the button for about two seconds for it to turn off. This is fully detailed in the instructions that come with the unit.

Value:
Being a faithful Shure user for 43 years, I'm sad to say that this product has proved to be a total and complete dissappointment.
Even though the quality of the included PG58 mics is quite acceptable, ****beware potential users*** these are truly BATTERY-PREDATORS. It's not unusual for these mics to eat up a 9-volt battery in one 3-hour session (start doing the math!). So if you used them daily like I intended to, include in your budget seven 9-volt batteries a week per mic. This added to the fact that there's no on-off button anywhere to be found in the mics...no "battery-save" option. And the consumption doesn't decrease even by pulling the battery (highly unadvisable due to risk of breakage of the clips) from the mics after the session is over
Upon consultation with a Shure dealer (Sam Ash), the answer was: "Oh, yeah, that's typical behaviour of these mics. They sure suck up them 9-volt batteries". Thanks for not telling me before I purchased the Shure PG88. Now I'm telling you, potential buyer: BEWARE!
I strongly advise whoever may be interested in wireless mics, to look elsewhere (Sennheiser, perhaps?). If you insist on this product (the stick price is nice), well... you won't be able to say that you didn't know.
