Apparently "Windows 93 SE compatible" is a
joke in the world of MIDI interfaces. I don't
know about other operating systems, but using
this one with 98SE is a disaster. Freeze-ups,
garbled data (wrong patches, transpositions,
random notes that sustain forever) and
sometimes just agonizing silence.
I heard MOTU was good - I can't comment on
their other products, but "98SE compatible"
could be considered false advertising. I got
their "latest" driver from the internet - years
old but supposedly specifically for 98SE, but
that just had DIFFERENT problems from the CD...
If you KNOW it's compatible with your system
it's probably fine (I bought it for SOME
reason), but if you don't know, ask someone
who's not a salesperson (they're trained to
always say "yeah, I actually use that one
myself!")
I couldn't get as far as stress-testing it
(tons of controller data on all channels, or
multiple devices).
I'll give tech support a chance to respond,
then probably get my money back.
