"AVOID ... unless you like "NOISE BOXES""

Feature:
I love controls - WHEN they're appropriate. For a compressor, the simpler the better. This thing tries too hard to be alot of things ... and ends up NOT being what you want - namely, a good compressor.

Quality:
It's built well .... heavy & solid.

Value:
The cost is ridiculous at $100 ... because it doesn't do what you want it to. So, i guess $1 would be too expensive too.

Desirability:
This baby's goin' BACK.

Sound:
The "sound" is, in a word ... HARSE. This pedal is NOISY too .... very noisy. Tons of hiss. Also, a compressor is not supposed to color your tone, but simply supply varying levels of the ONE thing you want - compression. This thing acts like it wants to be some sort of neo-distortion/overdrive pedal. You have to bring the Level down so much that you end up losing all your sound. And forget that three-position switch ... minimal effect at best. Again, you don't want a compressor to do anything but COMPRESS, in a nice way.

Ease of Use:
"Easy" .... well, yes i guess. The problem is that regardless of HOW you use it, it still sucks.

Overall:
AVOID this pedal. I would suggest several others, notably the "Maxon CP-101" (expensive, but gets great reviews plus it's SIMPLE!), or the "Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter" (MORE expensive, but gets great reviews too; too many dials, for a compressor, UNTIL you study the user manual and see where they're going with their design theory, then they kind of suck you into their mindset...).

About This Product!
Description
Docs, Multimedia
Give your favorite tone a major squeeze with the new ToneCore Constrictor. Choose from three versatile compressor models including Compact, Squeeze, and Mellow all based on classic analog compressors from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

Compressor Dynamics Model Switch
This switch reconfigures the virtual circuitry inside Constrictor to give you three distinctly different 'flavors':

Compact - Is based on vintage stompbox compressors from the `70s and gives you a slight mid frequency boost. The virtual circuitry of the Constrictor is automagically reconfigured to run a 37:1 compression ratio, 10ms fast attack & 295ms slow release time when this model is run.

Squeeze - Gives you `80s stompbox-style compression with a pleasant treble boost. It runs a 19:1 compression ratio, 31ms slow attack & 98ms fast release time.

Mellow - Model is the place to be when you're in the mood for a classic tube compressor sound, with a nice, flat frequency response. It's got 3:1 compression ratio, 10ms fast attack & 82ms fast release time.

Controls
Level - This sets the output level. Higher levels will hit the amp or effect fed by the Constrictor with more signal level, giving your more volume.

Gate - With this knob at minimum (fully counter-clockwise) the noise gate is off. Turn up a bit to low settings, and the gate should be appropriate. Use high settings when there's more noise to tame, or you want to aggressively clamp to silence at the end of notes or chords.

Sustain - Set this at minimum to even out the difference between your loud and quiet playing a bit, without changing sustain too much. Or max it out to bring pretty much everything to the same level, with super sustain.
