Feature:
A box mixer/amplifier has everything "on board" that you need. Accessories? I don't know what you could add to this unit. A foam case would be nice at extra cost. 2 one octave eq's and 2 effects units each with 99 presets. Feedback warning light on the eq's is a help, but I prefer to use my ears to ring out a PA system.
Quality:
Here's the catch. Behringer quality is bad. EVERYTHING out of China is bad. Loose solder connectors, bad ribbon connectors from the mixer to the amplifier, BAD BAD XLR input units. I wish Behringer would spend $25 extra and use better quality XLR's. I wish they would fix their robots to solder the circuit boards correctly. Construct these units so they can be repaired. I mean--rivets to close up the mixer section??? NASTY. But all stuff from China is the same. After the warranty it's pretty much a throw away. This INCLUDES the nifty black new units. Ever take an electronic unit to a repair shop? Start with $150 to open the unit up THEN add repair cost. You want cheap? You get cheap. Buy an extended warranty.
Value:
OK. Everyone sells Behringer for the same price. "MAP". Yes if you buy a bunch of stuff, you can get a discount. GET AN EXTENDED WARRANTY--PERIOD!! For the price, it's a great product. Too bad they don't sell a German version of Behringer. (it would cost 3 times the money though).
Desirability:
I keep one in my bedroom.
Sound:
The quality of sound is what it is supposed to be. For a mixer/amplifier (no room for large power supplies--people would whine about the weight anyway) the sound is perfect from 60 hz to 20,000 hz. You want 20 hz bass--triple the weight. Better yet buy a $600 amp & $500 mixer. As far as headroom on the mic preamps--no box mixer is going to do a loud band. The pad lowers the gain by 20 db NOT LINE LEVEL. I rent this stuff and for what it is intended to do, it's great. Effects are great for a built in unit. You want better effects? Buy a $1000 English rack effects unit. Quiet--loud and EASY to use.
Ease of Use:
If you can't get really good sound from this unit, go to your local Community College and take an Audio Engineering and learn about gain structure and how to read a spec sheet. Use good speakers (in the $600 range-ea.) and you will be happy. Use $150 speakers and try doing metal and and you have no hope.
Support:
Ever have a computer go down? You call tech service and you get a human recording of "is it plugged in" etc. But with Behringer, it's worse! Bottom line--send it back in the origional box (yup we all save the boxes don't we). What you get back is a new (or used) mixer section or a new (or used) amplifer/power supply. The stuff is riveted together! Yes there are screws so you can get to the rivets.
Overall:
Till the extended warranty expires. Then sell it on e-bay and buy another.

Feature:
No accessories. The most usefull feature is the dual effects, and the 20 pounds on weight. A second major limitation is the absense of the gain trim on the channels. The fixed gain is just too high and the channels will clip. During our gig, the peak lights on the microphone channels were constantly ON and the sound was distorded. The worst is that there was nothing I could do about it but tell the vocalist to keep the microphone at a distance from his mouth, but it was hard to do consistently. There is a PAD pusbutton, nut this will reduce the gail to Line level, not usable for microphones. I can't believe that Behringer would omit the trip and replace it with a PAD on their top of the line box powered mixer. It makes it unusable for microphones. I will return this mixer just for this reason.
Quality:
I had this mixer for two weeks and I have used it twice. It looks fairly well build, but I cannot tell how reliable are the electronics inside the box. Like I said before, a great atribute is that it is lightweight, it won't kill your back.
Value:
If it had not the limitations I have described above, I would have bought a second one too.
Desirability:
I plan to return it and try the PMH5000.
Sound:
The sound quality is pretty good, the effects are usable and I had enough power for my gig. The power amps did not clip at all.
A dissapointment was in the effects section. When you first turn the power ON, the effects return to some defaults. That means that after you choose the effects you like, you must keep the mixer ON all the time. If you turn the power OFF and then back ON, the settings are lost and you must return to your last presets, if you remember the numbers.
A friend who bought this mixer a year ago does not have this problem. His mixer remembers the last settings. I contacted the Behringer tech support and I was told that they have "upgraded" the effects section so that the last settting are lost after the power is turned OFF. To me this is a downgrade, a big inconvenience. Very dissapointed.
Ease of Use:
The interface is intuitive and the controls are standard. The channel EQs are not very effective. The same is true for the graphic equalizers. The manual is rather consice. I had a concern about the input voltage. On the back of the mixer it says 120V AC. The manual says 100V-240V AC. It makes a difference to me because I may take the mixer to Europe (240V). The tech support clarified that the corrrect spec is 100V to 240V.
Support:
The tech support was prompt in answering questions, even though the answers did not help much as there were mostly clarifications.
Overall:
I am already searching for a replacement.
