"The AE-48 is a guitar that you can be proud to play and own."

Feature:
The sound is good however I wish there were better electronics. for the price though its hard to beat.

Quality:
Quality is very good and should be road worthy. I have not taken it on the road yet but I beleive i will.

Value:
This guitar is worth much more than the selling price.

Desirability:
The look is of course An Ovation. Multi-sound holes and roundback make it a pure pleasure to look at.

Sound:
The sound is superb. This guitar is as good as an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe which costs $600. however it is a real bargain for under $300.

Ease of Use:
For an instrument of this price it is very palyable. just change the strings at once to appreciate the wonderful sound.

Overall:
It is not necessary to spend $1000 for an Ovation elite because I have played several of them and this guitar while not having the same exact woods is a bargain for the price. The electronics are DJ-2B and any tweaking if not satified with the sounds can be tweaked thru your amp or effects pedals.

"Best Guitar for under $300!"

Feature:
The 9-volt active EQ is simple, but versatile enough to get the sound you're looking for. This guitar sounds great plugged in. I also wanted to mention that this guitar sounds very nice unplugged. Nobody really came out and said that in other reviews. The location of the jack is conveniently, and the inside of the guitar is accessible via round plug in the back of the body. Also, the tuners on this guitar are very smooth, with a responsive high gear ratio. The don't slip or rattle, and I expect the guitar will stay in tune well, Ive only had it for a little while.

Quality:
I haven't had this beauty for very long, but I own other acoustic guitars and I cant tell when they're made shoddily, and this one certainly isn't. This guitar is very light weight, but is also very sturdy.

Value:
Great value!! Since the quality composite body isnt very expensive, more of your dollar goes into important components like the mahogony neck, rosewood fretboard, and sealed tuners (which are all awesome), and the active EQ is also great.

Desirability:
This guitar is pleasing to the eye. I got the ruby red burst. Very happy with the appearance of the instrument.

Sound:
The design and placement of the leaf epaulets create a very crisp, but not tinny tone with incredible response: notes resound the instant you pluck a string. I recommend elixir strings. Their polyweb custom light strings sound absolutely beautiful. Very good for fingerstyle, too. While the low end tone isn't that of a dreadnought size guitar, it gets a full, balanced sound not lacking any qualities of a generic acoustic guitar. It doesn't have the tone of a wooden body guitar but one unto it's own kind.

Ease of Use:
This guitar's body has been ergonomically designed for comfort and playability by Igor Sikorsky and Charlie Kaman, Helicopter Geniuses from CT. The neck is very fast and smooth, and it simply has the most player- friendly fretboard Ive ever used. Since the body of the guitar is thin, your right arm doesn't have to reach around 5" of wood to get to the fretboard. It comes with 2 strap buttons installed, and a strap is nice, though not necessary to use, because the guitar can sometimes slip off the leg cradling it because of its smooth, angled composite body.

Support:
N/A I've only had this guitar for a day or so.

Overall:
This might well be the only steel string guitar I'll ever end up playing. I just cant go back to my Yamaha or Epiphone after this...

News
Ovation's award winning multi-sound hole technology is now incorporated into the Applause AE148! Its full, balanced sound is pumped out through the calibrated spruce top and fine-tuned bracing. The Lyrachord body allows for the back of the guitar to be free of reinforcements that can inhibit sound projection. A slim contoured neck allows for fast and effortless playing that suits any style from finger picking to power chords.

Ovation's Slimline pickup captures true acoustic tone and delivers a powerful signal with plenty of headroom to combat feedback in high-volume conditions. The OP4B preamp has a gain knob, a battery LED, plus bass, mid and treble EQ sliders.
