Like the purr of a precision automobile, or the contour of finely-crafted furniture, classics are defined by the stuff they are made of. Such is the ethic behind the Dios Series drum kits. Reaching beyond the standard of the mundane, Dios Series drums are fashioned to bridge the gap between time-tested orthodoxy and the latest in percussion technology. Beginning with a choice of bubinga from West Africa or walnut from North America, the shells are thinner in nature to allow the unique tonal character of these exotic hardwoods to truly shine. The plies of each shell (8 for snares and kicks, 6 for toms) are cross-laminated in an alternating vertical/horizontal grain pattern. This allows the outer shell to showcase the natural splendor of the wood through a glass-like lacquer finish. the hand-stained inner shell of each drum creates a smooth conduit for vibration and sound to travel through, delivering tone that will ignite an almost emotional response every time it is played. Accented further with classic tube-style lugs, die-cast hoops, and a variety of unique set-ups. Dios Series drums echo the call for a new percussive tradition, set by the players of the New Revolution.
North American Walnut
On the opposite end of the tonal spectrum from the African bubinga kit lies Dios Walnut, where mids and lows are the element of emphasis. Though this gorgeous wood is also dense and heavy, it resonates with thunderous enormity in the lower register, and seems to almost expand with every stroke. However, its hardwood characteristics allow for brightness in the voicing that is not attainable with standard maple or birch, making it the perfect drum for recording. Without exception, this is a drum that will surprise even the most finicky percussion connoisseur.
