"There's better on the market for your money"

Feature:
There are not many features on the SXA 250 just kinda bog standard. A volume knob a basic Eq in's and out's and thats about it.

Quality:
I have had the SXA'a for 3 years now and have had them break down on me 3 times.I earn my living by giging and over the years have owned a number of Pa speakers and for reliability the SXA 250's have been by far the worst. So this last time of breaking down was for me the plump for the Mackie SRM 450's.

Value:
Considering you could almost buy 2 Mackie SRM450's for the price 1 SXA 250 I dont think they are good value

Desirability:
It has NO sex appeal at all - No sexy lights or curvy styling just a Black box

Sound:
I bought two of these EV powered speakers thinking I was buying a Roll's Royce product but found this not to be the case, although it certainly has a Roll's Royce price tag. The sound overall was fairly good apart from very dissapointing lows which is really unusual for a 15" speaker. I have recently tried the Mackie SRM450's and I have found they have far better lows and are a lot louder. I've found that the SXA's really dont like to be driven hard and tend to break up when cranked.Bear in mind I am a solo singer / acoustic guitarist playing to backing tracks in smallish venues so I dont get that loud!! When I emailed EV about this they told me to buy a sub!!!

Ease of Use:
Very Simple to use

Support:
I live in London and I have dealt on a few occasions with the British service dept. They were ok but even when one of the speakers broke down within warranty the company would not loan me a speaker to cover gigs I had booked while the broken speaker was being repaired. So I had to hire a pair of Pa speakers for two weeks!!

Overall:
I think for the price this speaker is vastly overated. Dont get me wrong I may just have been unlucky with the breakdowns and someone else could have them for years without a problem, but I can only soeak as I find and anyway there's still the lack of bass end and the big lack of power.

Description
Docs
The SxA250 sets a new standard for powered speakers. Its design provides the user multiple inputs with mix capability, an easy to use EQ section, and plenty of power in a very compact, attractive package. This is a full range loudspeaker ideal for applications requiring high-quality sound. Careful attention to the dynamic requirements of music guided the amplifier design to provide high SPL. The high quality microphone preamplifier provides great sounding vocals or speech. A master level control sets the desired SPL, and the line input can be mixed and balanced with a microphone with its level control. Its linear response is easily optimized for speech or music with the on board multiband equalization. Built-in pole mount and optional rigging hardware make it easy to position for your application. The high-frequency section of the SxA250 utilizes a molded-in, 80 x 55 degree constant-directivity horn. This unique pattern contributes to high intelligibility. Vocals sound natural yet cut through reverberant, noisy rooms. Coverage pattern is uniform and sound quality off-axis is very well maintained, even at 40 off axis (an 80 total coverage angle). The SxA250 s high-frequency horn is driven by the DH2010A, a 1.25 inch diaphragm, wide-bandwidth, titanium-diaphragm driver using a unique, convex-drive TimePath phasing plug structure (U.S. Patent #4,525,604) for smooth and extended high-frequency response.
