"Best Guitar for under $300!"

Feature:
The 9-volt active EQ is simple, but versatile enough to get the sound you're looking for. This guitar sounds great plugged in. I also wanted to mention that this guitar sounds very nice unplugged. Nobody really came out and said that in other reviews. The location of the jack is conveniently, and the inside of the guitar is accessible via round plug in the back of the body. Also, the tuners on this guitar are very smooth, with a responsive high gear ratio. The don't slip or rattle, and I expect the guitar will stay in tune well, Ive only had it for a little while.

Quality:
I haven't had this beauty for very long, but I own other acoustic guitars and I cant tell when they're made shoddily, and this one certainly isn't. This guitar is very light weight, but is also very sturdy.

Value:
Great value!! Since the quality composite body isnt very expensive, more of your dollar goes into important components like the mahogony neck, rosewood fretboard, and sealed tuners (which are all awesome), and the active EQ is also great.

Desirability:
This guitar is pleasing to the eye. I got the ruby red burst. Very happy with the appearance of the instrument.

Sound:
The design and placement of the leaf epaulets create a very crisp, but not tinny tone with incredible response: notes resound the instant you pluck a string. I recommend elixir strings. Their polyweb custom light strings sound absolutely beautiful. Very good for fingerstyle, too. While the low end tone isn't that of a dreadnought size guitar, it gets a full, balanced sound not lacking any qualities of a generic acoustic guitar. It doesn't have the tone of a wooden body guitar but one unto it's own kind.

Ease of Use:
This guitar's body has been ergonomically designed for comfort and playability by Igor Sikorsky and Charlie Kaman, Helicopter Geniuses from CT. The neck is very fast and smooth, and it simply has the most player- friendly fretboard Ive ever used. Since the body of the guitar is thin, your right arm doesn't have to reach around 5" of wood to get to the fretboard. It comes with 2 strap buttons installed, and a strap is nice, though not necessary to use, because the guitar can sometimes slip off the leg cradling it because of its smooth, angled composite body.

Support:
N/A I've only had this guitar for a day or so.

Overall:
This might well be the only steel string guitar I'll ever end up playing. I just cant go back to my Yamaha or Epiphone after this...

"The Empress of Instruments musical."

Feature:
The style I liked best has a dip on the left side for ease of positioning the left wrist. Of course this is for right handed players so my brother and youngest son would have to adapt just a bit. An intersting use of modern materials may actually improve the life of this beauty.

Quality:
It sems perfect to me and will last as long as I take proper care of it. I would like a backup so that my brother could play along with me. He's all of our family of origin left. Except for replacing an occasional string I plan on using it everywhere and passing it on to my most talented child or grandchild.

Desirability:
This marvel and I 'bonded' the very first time I heard it and I felt I must have one. Yes, the texs are great and I like the design with the inside construction being condusive to better sound and is the work of sheer genius. I just play for myself and folks in nursing home or service men back from duty in the hsopital. I'm not in it for fame or fortune. Who cares about the color. My blind brother can not see it and so color has nothing to do with its appeal.

Sound:
It was the sound that I fell in love with. It is the voices of nature produced by the art of man. Enchantment so great I was uplifted to a new level. I haven't had a chance to explore its possiblities, but I am looking forward to doing so. I have hinted and outright demanded that it is what I want for my Birthday(August 24). I feel it can be tuned and adjusted to many styles of playing and I'm only sorry that Jimi Hendrikx is not alive to use it.

Ease of Use:
At first I thought it would be difficult to use due to the rounded bottom, but I'd determined to play it until I adjust to it more than try to adust it to me. This is only reasonable to dedicated musicians as every instrument has its own soul, unlike most inanimate objects, such as cooking pots or vacuum cleaners. It is easy to play as the manual is very clear and just as playable as other guitars.

Overall:
Perhaps I will never have any other musical instrument. I have had the Oscar Schmidt Autoharp and Yamaha Keyboard which were stolen ten years or so ago but now I am older and semi disabled and I have my Dad's Harmonicas in C and G. I would like to experiment with Nicoli Tessla's Harmonium as I admire the man very much for his inventions, but have no burning desire for it. It seems the Harmonium might be harmonius with the sounds of the Ovation Applause. If lost or stolen I could not rest until I had it replaced as I have yearned for it since I first heard it.

News
Ovation's award winning multi-sound hole technology is now incorporated into the Applause AE148! Its full, balanced sound is pumped out through the calibrated spruce top and fine-tuned bracing. The Lyrachord body allows for the back of the guitar to be free of reinforcements that can inhibit sound projection. A slim contoured neck allows for fast and effortless playing that suits any style from finger picking to power chords.

Ovation's Slimline pickup captures true acoustic tone and delivers a powerful signal with plenty of headroom to combat feedback in high-volume conditions. The OP4B preamp has a gain knob, a battery LED, plus bass, mid and treble EQ sliders.
