Feature:
Small size is it's only real plus but it's heavy for it's size.

Quality:
Build quality seems good. There are better, but there are a number decent low cost amps that are not built as well. I would exepct it to work as needed reliably for many years.

Value:
It's not an expensive amp but the horrible sound quality still makes it poor value for most.

Desirability:
The package is pretty nice and the cover for the controls to prevent unwanted adjsutments is a plus which is why I was as generous as I was.

Sound:
I was unpleasantly surprised at the sound of this amp. At very low volumes it sounds harsh with very little high end detail. As you raise the volume, the low end dissappears. I own numerous power amps and have used many more but this is the worst sounding amp I have heard as long as I can remember. It's REALLY BAD. People have figured out how to make great sounding amps and most current amplifiers sound very good to excellent. This does not. It's painful for music. The only real use I can see for it is if you need a single rack space amp for speech only. Unlike what I have done with all my other amps, I did not even bother to measure the power output but expect it's a bit optimistic.

Ease of Use:
No extra features and limited input output options. It is bridgable.

Support:
Have not tried to contact ART.

Overall:
I've held on to it largely because I bought it wholesale but that left me with basically no return options - that worked out well for me! So of you are going to buy one, buy it from a dealer you can send it back to when you realize jsut how bad it sounds. I drag it out as a last resort back-up and hope I never have to use it. I wouldn't even give it away to someone that needed more than a speech amp. I can't sugar coat this review, this is as bad an amp as you'll ever encounter. For those of you that may have run across the Pyramid PA amps (same guys that make the $9 car stereos), those sound far better!

The SLA-2 is a studio linear power amp that delivers 200 watts of clean, clear power, and will help reproduce your mixes with near-pinpoint accuracy inside a single rack space.

One of the top features on the SLA-2 is ART's SmartFan technology. In addition to a standard cooling fan, the over-sized convection heat sinks located on each side of the SLA-2 silently directs heat flow outside the chassis. What makes the SmartFan 'smart'? It's temperature-controlled variable-speed keeps the amp quiet and cool while performing at lower output. SmartFan kicks in only when the amp's heat load rises creating an 'on demand' cooling system in warmer environments.

ART has also included a tamper-proof faceplate for your fixed installations.
