"Lots of Power = Lots of Thump"

Feature:
Compact for an 18. Neutriks and 1/4" make most hook ups easy. Heavy steel grill. Needs corner protection. I add them...

Quality:
Needs factory corner protection.

Value:
Add lots of pwoer and they sound like subs costing 3x as much.

Desirability:
It's JBL!

Sound:
No better buy out there. The subs do require lots of power to sound good. JBL Pro recommends doubling the RMS power.. so a minimum of 700 watts per speaker. I'm using (2) mono block amps with 1060 watts into each sub and (4) JRX115s with 1060s watts on each pair of 115s Sounds Great. Headroom galore. I thought I might need two more but the 1060 watts on each 18" sub does it. Great low end fundamentals and no clipping. These subs just cruise along with that kind of power.

Ease of Use:
Plug in and go...

Support:
I've used them in the past. Not great but not horrible..

Overall:
Deep Low End...

"Compact, handy and reliable"

Feature:
Though Speaker features are limited always.. I do like the fact that it at least has One Quarter inch Input as well as Speakon connections on each cabinet. I also like the concept of building 4 Ohm cabinets. It allows me to get the most out of my power amp. I could run two of these cabs in each side of my Crown CE2000 and pump out enough bass to fill any room I would need to.. What I like the most about these cabinets is their size.. Finally a Sub that will fit into my blazer SUV and still have room for plenty more!! They are definitely the smallest 18 Cabinet I have seen on the market.. At the price, I don't think you can go wrong..

Quality:
I have had them well over a year and they have never failed once.. I take great care to not push my power amps too hard to cause clipping which will lead to the demise of just about any speaker..

Value:
Well, I got a smoking deal at a Local store for $650 for the pair (that was about 1 year ago).. Now I see they are going for 439 a piece.. I though 399 was an "OK" value but for 325 a piece, that makes them a tremendous value..

Desirability:
It's appeal to me was the size.. Not only, I know to expect quality even from Low-end JBL product.. Part of me wants to get two more to add to the setup to increase my overall bass response.. The quality is good but when you get a roomful of people, 4 of these cabinets would push the bass through much better..

Sound:
Not too bad.. They seem to produce decent low end without breaking up too badly.. I run about 450 Watts to each and it doesn't seem quite enough for some of the rooms that I play... What I do get seems quality though..

Ease of Use:
With a Driverack, the sound is pretty decent.. I find them quite easy and in need of only a little EQ to get a good sound.

Support:
Never had to deal with JBL support.. Though my buddy has for different product, They took great care to resolve his problem in a timely manner..

Overall:
I suspect that these models will be all I ever need for my club dates that don't provide in house systems. Again, I am thinking of getting another set so that I can hook two to each side of my CE2000 thus running at 2 ohms and increasing my entire bass output to ~2000 watts..

JBL JRX118S
The JRX118S is a 1x18 in. compact (passive) subwoofer, rated at 1400 watts peak power capacity and 350 watts continuous. It includes a newly designed JBL 18 in. woofer with a cast frame and 3 in. voice-coil.

About the JRX100 Series
JBL designed the new JRX100 series for cost-conscious musicians, DJs and other users of live sound reinforcement speakers. All full-range models feature Neutrik Speakon and 1/4 in. input connectors. JRX100 cabinets are constructed of carpet-covered, 3/4 in. MDF -- a material that is structurally and acoustically superior to the particleboard that is used by many competitive products. To minimize distortion, heavy gauge wire is used for inductors and SonicGuard high-frequency driver protection guards against damage caused by inadvertent overpowering of the system. The JRX115 and JRX112M's innovative, new dual-angle pole socket allows them to be mounted in either a conventional, vertical position, or with a 10 degree down angle. By aiming the speaker down, you get more even audience coverage and reduce the destructive acoustic reflections from walls. JBL constructs the JRX enclosures with advanced adhesives and closely mechanically spaced fasteners, not just glue. They use non-resonant, all metal handles, and an 18-gauge, full metal grille. All JRX100 models have passed the same 100-hour, full rated-power torture test that JBL high-end touring systems must survive.
