Rev up your digital life at speeds twice as fast as the previous iMac. Intel Core Duo and iLife '06 raise the bar -- again -- of what makes a personal computer so personal. Enjoy everything you love about iMac, only turbocharged.

Power has never been this much fun
No computer on earth makes it as easy to work with digital photos, movies, music and the web as iMac. And now it all happens with blazing speed -- powered by the revolutionary Intel Core Duo. With two processors built onto a single chip, this new Intel engine kicks iMac performance up to a whole new level. Coupled with the new ATI Radeon X1600 graphics processor and the world's most advanced operating system, Mac OS X, iMac will run all your software, fast.

It's a wonderful iLife
iMac comes with iLife '06, a suite of easy-to-use applications that make the spectacular part of your everyday life. Enhance, organize and share your photos via iPhoto. Make an epic starring your kid in iMovie. Turn your photo and movie creations into professional DVDs with iDVD. Create original music in GarageBand, even if you can't carry a tune. Make podcasts and blogs. Then publish them online via your .Mac account and the all-new iWeb (2).

The ultimate see and say
There's an iSight camera built into every new iMac, so you can start a video chat (or join one) at a moment's notice. There's nothing extra to buy3, nothing to attach, no cords to fumble with, no software to install or configure(4) Simply start up iChat AV, click your buddy's read more video icon and you're ready to chat with sight and sound -- with up to three friends at once(5) Proper attire suggested.

Now showing
With iMac, you've got the best seat in the house. The full-screen Front Row media experience -- with its intuitive menus, large text and brilliant graphics -- lets you browse the music, photos, and videos on your iMac as easily as you browse music on your iPod. And the new Apple Remote lets you do your browsing from anywhere in the room. So gather your friends and dazzle them with a slideshow of your vacation pics, a home movie or a DVD. iMac was born to entertain.

Intel Core Duo
iMac has always made it fast and easy to do the most amazing things. Now the fast and easy part literally doubles overnight -- because the newest iMac computers are powered by the Intel Core Duo. This revolutionary bit of technology is actually two processors built into a single chip, giving iMac up to twice the horsepower it had previously. So the wows will come faster than ever before.

One giant leap for iMac
More than an evolution of processor design, Intel Core Duo is an order-of-magnitude leap forward. It's the first Intel chip born of the new 65-nanometer process, which allows for the creation of transistors so small, you could fit a hundred inside a single human cell. With two powerful processors designed to share resources and circuitry so unimaginably small, Intel Core Duo achieves far higher levels of performance while actually consuming less power.

Software just works
In the world of iMac, nothing is complicated -- even when the internal architecture advances so dramatically. So when it comes to running software on your Intel-based iMac, prepare for the expected: it just works. Applications with the Universal symbol run on either PowerPC- or Intel-based iMac computers. Most existing applications will run on your Intel-based iMac, too. Simply launch them as always. Thanks to the Rosetta technology in Mac OS X, they look and feel just like they did before. (1)

Design
Yes, there really is a computer in there. The iMac stands as a model of great design, suspended gracefully in mid-air, perfectly balanced. With hardly any desktop footprint, iMac conceals almost an entirely new interior as well as an extraordinary range of features to enhance your digital life. That's no easy feat.

Design matters
While the iMac with Intel Core Duo sports the same svelte exterior as iMac G5, the inside's another matter. With all new parts for CPU, system bus and graphics processor, amongst other things, Apple engineers had to literally reweigh all their decisions. To let you adjust the viewing angle with such a light touch, the center had to be the center. The result is simply stunning -- even when you're not using it.

A place for everything
The iSight camera is built right into iMac's display, ready to spring into action when you want to snap a picture or video chat with friends around around the world. The simple six-button Apple Remote gives you control over your music, movies and photos from anywhere in the room -- and it stows away neatly (and magnetically) on the side of your iMac when you're not using it. An array of rear ports make it easy to connect your iPod or just about any other digital device. Though it's hard to believe, iMac's slim shape contains everything from the power supply (no unsightly power brick to deal with) to a pair of high-quality speakers for beautiful stereo sound. The battle over desktop clutter is over -- and you won.

Power in hand
Now that Mighty Mouse is standard with every model, you'll feel iMac power right down to your fingertips. You get the programmability of a four-button mouse in an unexpectedly simple design -- along with the power of the revolutionary Scroll Ball. Scroll up, scroll down, even scroll diagonally within a document without lifting a finger. See all your open windows with a single squeeze. Or assign other functions to buttons as you wish. Your fingertips never had it so good.

Graphics
Home to luscious widescreen living, the 17-inch iMac display hides the whole computer. Now iMac lets you widen your horizons with a second display on a pure digital DVI connection in extended desktop mode. And power them up with over-the-top ATI Radeon X1600 graphics with up to 256MB DDR SDRAM.

You get the picture
ATI Radeon X1600 Graphics gives iMac the PCI Express treatment on a 16-lane bus interface. That means it's screaming fast. Up to 256MB GDDR3 graphics memory offers plenty of headroom for games, Dashboard widgets, games, even faster user switching, games, iPhoto full-screen mode, games, Front Row, games, and, well, games.

Get cinematic perspective
The 17-inch widescreen iMac delivers a resolution of 1440 by 900 pixels on its flat-panel LCD screen, the same screen area as a 19-inch CRT monitor. Its 16:10 wide aspect ratio is perfect for watching DVD movies -- using the built-in DVD Player -- in their original format.

Take in more pixels
Designed to live in any room of the house, iMac now offers features that make it every bit at home in the office. For the first time ever, iMac lets you use a second display in extended desktop mode, in addition to simply mirroring the first. The mini-DVI port lets you connect to DVI displays, VGA monitors and projectors, and S-Video and Composite connectors, with the appropriate adapter (sold separately). iMac graphics supports up to 23-inch Apple Cinema Display.

On Every Mac
Apple designs the whole Mac: hardware, software and everything in between. So it's much easier to bring dreams to life. Of course you should be able to record video of a conversation and post it online. With all the software included with your Mac, you can do that and much more -- quickly, simply, and with style.

World's best value
Every Mac is constructed from top-quality hardware, seamlessly integrated with the software that makes it sing, Mac OS X Tiger. And every Mac comes with the latest version of iLife, for music, photos, movies, and now, blogs. With a free .Mac trial account, it's easy to share your iLife online1.

World's most advanced operating system
Mac OS X Tiger sets the standard for what any modern operating system should include: a mail program, web browser, address book, calendar, PDF viewing and creation, dictionary, thesaurus, faxing, iTunes, QuickTime, DVD player, text editor, text messaging, audio chat, video conferencing, font management, scientific and graphing calculators, sticky notes, phone and iPod syncing, VPN, chess, image capture and preview, task automation, and free developer tools.

Mac OS X also drives the industry forward with innovations unequaled on any platform. Take Dashboard widgets. Utility software may exist everywhere, but nowhere else is it so beautiful. Or Spotlight, the systemwide search. Get your results before you stop typing.

World's most entertaining anti-productivity suite
Connect your digital devices with ease and turn the most mundane moment into a memory worth keeping forever. iLife '06 lets you make movies and music, organize your photos, and give them professional flair with Apple-designed templates. Now you can make calendars, postcards2, podcasts, and blogs, too3.
