Designed To Inspire

Simple to learn and fun to use, the Akai MPC500 is sure to inspire greatness. The awesome rubberized MPC pads are the centerpiece of this killer machine. They feel great, are velocity sensitive for dynamic performance, and are responsive enough to capture the craziest rhythms you can tap out. Those trademark Akai trigger pads make the MPC500 more of an instrument than merely a tool, a difference that'll make your beats slam and kick with an organic flow. The twelve trigger pads have four layers each, giving you access to a total of 48 different sounds in one song. Add to the MPC pads a real-time Q-Link slider, and you'll have instant control over volume, stereo panning and effects parameters to add you own sonic signature to basic patterns. Creating crazy, multi-level grooves is easy, too. Just hit record, play a part, then hit overdub and layer another part on top, as many times as you want. For really dense patterns, record at a slower tempo, then speed it back up for playback--since the MPC500 is completely MIDI-sequence-based, you get no change in pitch, just grooves that sound like you've got the fastest hands in the land. Akai MPC500: Small Size, Huge Sounds

Weighing in at under three pounds, and measuring a mere 10" by 7" by 2", the Akai MPC500 is like a flyweight that could have gone toe-to-toe with Tyson in '86. No bigger than most laptop computers, this MPC will slide easily into a backpack or messenger bag, making it easy to take to live gigs. This tiny box has all the features you'd expect from one of Akai's bigger machines, including top-notch audio connections. You get a pair of 1/4" outs to hook up to pro-quality mixers, a pair of 1/4" ins for hooking up keyboards, basses, or dynamics microphones (like the legendary Shure SM58), and a stereo 1/4" jack for connecting your favorite headphones. You even get MIDI in and out, so you can use your MPC500 for syncing to external gear, controlling external sound modules, or triggering MPC sounds from another controller in your rig. Akai MPC500: Built-In Sampling, Sample Editing

Your Akai MPC500 comes pre-loaded with some great sounds, but its built-in sampling is really where it's at. The MPC500 features a full-fledged stereo sampling and editing suite right in the box, so you'll be able to cut your own hits, beats, and effects and assign them instantly to trigger pads for use in your MPC tracks. Dual 1/4" inputs with a big input record gain knob let you sample from just about any source, from CDs and Vinyl, to plugged-in electric bass and even dynamic microphones. Akai outfits the MPC500 with 5MB of sample memory at the factory, but this can be upgraded to 128MB for an amazing 25 minutes of CD-quality mono recording time. You can even layer in up to two effects over your samples, like reverb, compression, and phaser, for added impact. The MPC500 really is a mobile production studio for hip hop and electronic music. The Akai MPC500 is the first portable MPC. You can sample and create music wherever inspiration strikes: on the subway, on the plane, or even at the beach! Whether you're traveling around the globe or just across town, MPC500 is a perfect fit for your backpack, messenger bag, or briefcase. Beats and productions created in MPC500 can be dropped into your computer via USB or into your main MPC with the swappable CF card when you get back into the studio.

The Akai MPC500 is a 48-track sequencer with a 32-voice stereo sampler. It has 12 velocity and pressure-sensitive rubber MPC pads. 16MB of memory comes standard and can be expanded up to 128MB. When connected to a Mac or PC via USB, you can drag and drop data between the computer and your MPC500's CF card, just like a hard drive. Because MPC500 is compatible with other MPCs, MPC500 is the perfect way to extend your studio into your mobile lifestyle.

Overall I will dish out a perfect 10. Just because i had just about every other hardware & software available & this lil' BIG guy has surpassed everything that I thought it would & could do. AMAZING. JUST AMAZING product.
Sound
The sounds that YOU put in here could sound amazing. The quality is CD/HD quality. Very compatible with my music style since I am doing Hip/HOP, R&B & PoP.
Features
Compared to its brothers, your really not missing too much when you purchase this unit. Lets put it this way, if you have a computer with software already your already ahead of the game.
Ease of Use
Very very easy to use. I think people just think it's too hard to work with, but the truth is it's probably the most basic thing to learn.
Quality
I give this a perfect 10. No loose part, solid as a 70's Chevy.
Value
The value is a lil' high I think. But it's well worth it. Like I said before, as long as you have a computer with software that can do what the older brothers can do you can't loose.

I have used some support. They're are on top of their business they know what your talking about & you dont have to deal with somebody from India that doesn't speak English. Straight out of Rhode Island.
