Slowhand's Acoustic of Choice

Eric Clapton only plays the best. If it's good enough for him, it's a dream guitar for the rest of us. And even if you're not a fan, you'll love what the "000" body style, shorter scale length, spruce top, and ebony fingerboard will do for your fingerstyle playing.

Warm Sound from a Slightly Smaller Guitar

The slightly smaller "000" body size preferred by Clapton still boasts a big sound when you hit it hard. That's due to the use of two classic acoustic guitar tonewoods: Indian rosewood and Sitka spruce. Sitka spruce will help bring a crispy bite that assists with tonal articulation. Rosewood's tonal characteristics are slightly less potent than mahogany, but you'll certainly have your sonic fix of lows, mids, and that irresistible natural warmth that Martin acoustic guitars are known for.

Mahogany Neck and Ebony Fingerboard

This axe's mahogany neck features 20 frets housed in a silky black ebony read more fingerboard. All frets boast a tight action and a smooth playability, and the slightly shorter scale length of 24.9" gives each string a loser feel that allows more flexibility. Your Martin 000-28EC's mahogany neck is cut into a modified V shape that widens slightly as your hand travels up the fretboard.

Playing Blues, Looking Good

This is a great acoustic guitar for blues lovers. It has a warm sound with just the right amount of bite. Its slightly smaller size and shorter scale length give it a compact and looser feel. The Sitka spruce top presents an attractive linear pattern that contrasts well against the tortoise pickguard. The grained ivoroid binding and Indian rosewood headplate with that iconic Martin and Co. logo assure you an attractive performance when you hit the stage.

Martin 000 28EC Clapton Guitar

In recognition of Eric Clapton's unparalleled stature in the music industry, Martin introduced this incredible instrument in 1996. Since then, it has become one of their most popular models. The award-winning 000-28EC model draws its inspiration from the famous 000-42EC in body size, shape, and tonewoods. It has the smaller "000" body size that Clapton prefers and that is particularly popular among fingerstyle and blues guitarists who like a clear and balanced sound together with the string flexibility that the shorter 24.9 in. scale length allows. Its top is solid Spruce with a vintage toner finish; the 2-piece back and sides are solid East Indian Rosewood with a gloss finish. Includes hardshell case.

Sound
This is as good a finger-picking guitar as they come. I was amazed that such a small body could produce such lsuh, full, across the range sound. To second another reviewer, this guitar falls down and dies when it comes to strumming; go back to your HD28 or big body guitars for that.
Features
Good case, stronger than the usual Martin so-so cases.
Quality
With the exception of the backpacker, Martin has only made wonderful guitars, as far as I know.
Value
In this price range, you could spend a lot more (Taylor comes to mind) and not get as good.
Manufacturer Support
I've used Martin support for my Martins and I have never had a better customer support experience in my life.
The Wow Factor
It sounds wonderful.
