"Standing Ovation"
It'll stay with me as my standard go to guitar.
Sound
It sounds well balanced and hits all the highs, mids and lows that a guitar player needs to hear. It fills in lead licks and also becomes a powerful rhythm guitar, band or coffee house style. Well worth the money. Never disappointing. Try flat wound strings for extra crispness and tone..
Features
happy with it the way it is..
Value
Well worth the money....Try this and the $3,000.00 dollar guitars and you'll come back to it at the end.
Manufacturer Support
I bought mine used. No warranty...But very strong and durable just as the ovation standard is.
The Wow Factor
Needs a little more torquoise and fret inlays, but a simple classic to be in the collection.

"A Match Made in HEaven"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
The only way I'd search for another guitar would be if I were looking for an Ovation 12 string as an addition to my collection. And if she were stolen...I'd rush out and buy another just like her.
Sound
Clear, ringing, glorious tone, even unplugged. Amazing how loud it is--this is only my second acoustic guitar--the other being a Takamine dreadnought. Unplugged it is nearly as loud as the Taka.
Features
Love the way this baby is constructed---onboard preamp is simple to use. Action is easy--I don't have to kill myself to get a clear sounding chord, and yet there's no fret buzz. Body really feels comfortable, although I prefer to use a strap regardless--however for some reason my straps keep coming unbottoned, so I invested in a pair of cheap plastic strap locks for a bout two bucks each and haven't had a problem since.
Ease of Use
This guitar is a JOY to own--now I got it without a manual but was able to figure out everything with virtually no effort. Am planning to get a Crate acoustic amp to plug her into--should sound better. Mine has the super shallow bowl and is incredibly confortable--Ovations tend to want to 'roll up' a bit, but since that's how I play I'm fine with that.
Quality
Quite simply, this is a stunningly beautiful instrument--mine is in the ruby redburst shade--she's a real piece of art--almost to beautiful to leave in her case--and that is another point: You HAVE to have the right fitting case for an Ovation, even the super shallows--there are some non-Ovation cases that will fit out there and you want that case to fit her like a glove. I would never put this guitar in a gig bag. Worst quality? Haven't found it yet!
Value
Worth more than the list price--and better than some more expensive models out there
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed it yet.
The Wow Factor
Ahhhh...the Ovation sound. Nothing quite like it. Instantly recognizable. I know there are center hole Ovations, but I just love the Epaulettes (I call them her 'wings'). The Ruby Redburst finish is a real attention grabber. When I saw her I nearly snatched her off the wall. She was used and had just been put out for sale--one of the clerks wanted her for himself and tried his damnedest to talk me into several other guitars...but it was lust at first sight. Now that I've played an Ovation--especially with the super shallow bowl--I will NEVER go back.

The built in tuner is accurate and easy to use.

Ovation 17771LX Balladeer Customer Review
Sound
This guitar sounds great unplugged or plugged in. Classic Ovation sound which is bright, clean and crisp.
Features
Beautiful finish and amazing fret board. The diamond inlays make the instrument standout. Mine came with strap locks which for all my instruments is a necessity. Im not sure if this is on all of the LX's but I would highly recommend putting them on.
Ease of Use
This guitar is one of the smoothest easily playable guitars I've ever owned.
Quality
Quality is unmatched. The fine details of this instrument are amazing. The finish is spectacular.
Value
Worth every penny.
