"The best Digital Turntable on the market. Period."

Feature:
The features are good. It's pretty much layed out just like a real turntable, but with efx's and looping. The 80gig hard drive is icing on the cake. Will def make you a more organized DJ. I do wish the efx's had wet/dry knob, but I understand that this is for vinyl DJs moving into the digital world, but still want close ties back to the analog world. So it's more about the vinyl emulation which it does extremely well.

Quality:
I am a previous CDX owner and can say without a doubt that Numark improved the quality tremendously. The main issues with the CDX were bad software build and a poor quality CD drive. The HDX has a newer faster DVD drive that's reads audio from DVD as well as CD. The newer software that is bundled with the Gracenote database is simply awesome. I haven't had any glitches or lockups and every disc I used has worked with no problems. All my MP3s play with no issues or hiccups (I've loaded 6000+ MP3s to date).

Value:
For what it has provided for my Mobile business (Organization, portability, quality product, cutting edge technology), I feel it's worth every penny I spent on both HDXs. I've had them both for about 4 months now and feel I've made a great business purchase.

Desirability:
I find the HDX to be very visually appealing. I've purchased a Mackie d.2 mixer and must admit, this is one handsome setup.

Sound:
The sound is excellent. Very clear and concise whether it be MP3, CD or DVD. The vinyl emulation of scratching is the best I've heard of any digital deck (and I've owned Pio, Den and Techs).

Ease of Use:
I figured out how to use everything in a short amount of time. The searching function of the database is very straightforward and using the other features like record and ripping was a piece of cake. Efx's were easy to use also.

Support:
Numark has excellent support and even though I had many problems with my older CDX, the support was one of the bright spots.

Overall:
The HDX is a great achievement from Numark. Right now, there's nothing that compares to it. And the vinyl emulation is unreal technology. Coupled with an 80gig hard drive and awesome software, this deck rocks big time. I do wish Numark would provide an upgrade for better, tighter pitch %. Also it would be nice to have multiple hot starts and a wet/dry adjust. But that does not take away from how special this deck is. Few more upgrades and it could be a perfect 10.

"Numark HDX - foiled 1st step in digital mixing."

Feature:
Some features advertised did not work correctly at all! the record to HD function recorded skips where there were none played, the ripping/encoding took forever, the menu system worked on and off, the FX/start/stop buttons and even the onboard sampler sometimes glitched out.

Quality:
Software controlled HDX w/buggy software. We've cut the head off the snake at this point. The foundation for the turntable in the software is unstable. The bugs are numerous (i've counted and logged over 15, at least 3 of them "critical" to normal use functions) and frequent (1 out of 3 sets on average [2 hours a piece] i see a bug or 3!).

Value:
If you're willing to work around the bugs, go for it. I'd say it's worth the same as the CDX because the added HD/record features are a +, but the problems with it balance it out with a -.

Desirability:
The controls were cramped at times, but they were probably done really well for the space given. the 12" turntable allowed me to scratch audio digitally, and well, finally. The sleek silver design w/silver vinyl emulator is so sick looking, and with cool LED blue accents and a silver text display, it was pretty sweet. The bugs, and design of the software make it really really really unappealling, however, because I can't go to a show & play out my skipping tracks and take it home and listen to my skipping recordings.

Sound:
Clear, prominent, loud. But does have delay to it w/the platter rotation, making it unusual for vinyl dj's to switch to HD. DSP effects are a bit overbearing at times, but can be mild if done right.

Ease of Use:
pretty easy to use, but with all the bugs, I couldn't have a good time on the products because I was watching my back for more bugs to show up.

Support:
The company's tech support didn't know a thing about USB and troubleshooting it when I called in about my problems connecting the HDX to USB. The company's information given about returns of the product for the defective CD drive (in both units, which they had a fix already established), was inaccurate at first, but was cleared up. The company, to no avail, can not reproduce errors that I'm experiencing on a regular basis on more than 1 turntable. The company does not release bug information freely, making the users discover it on their own. Their responses in e-mail have been canned & seemingly falsely considerate. Not to mention few and far between when you get upset.

Overall:
The software updates don't help. Problems remain, and some new ones may even pop up as the software is updated. Bugs cause paranoia. Paranoia destroys concentration. Concentration is essential to a good mixed set. Bugs destroy a set. Overall I give it a 4 because the product is claimed to be "professional grade" but I stopped searching for gigs because the bugs kept appearing more and more. Not very professional, in my humble opinion.
