"A great mid level dobro--good price/value"

Feature:
Comes with a gig bag. As others have said elsewhere, it would have been nice to have the Gibson acoustic logo on the gig bag.

Quality:
There were a couple of little blemishes in the finish, but I guess that's part of the rough, plain look they are shooting for. Other than that, and the fret thing mentioned above, seems real good.

Value:
I think it's a great deal. If not for the hounddog, I don't think I could have bought a dobro. Glad to have it.

Desirability:
It's not super fancy, but it looks nice hung up on my wall. I dig it.

Sound:
I played the 1800 dollar Gibsons, and I played some lower end Fenders. This one fell right in the zone of being a)affordable and b) decent sounding. I am not saying it's the best dobro in the world, but the sound is good and the price is right. If you are a guitar player looking for a different sound, this is a nice way to get it. It sounds great plugged in, too. I run it through digital delay, chorus, and flanger. Nice git-box!

Support:

Overall:
It is what it tries to be, if that makes any sense. I am satisfied with it.

About This Product!
Description
The roundneck Hound Dog Dobro guitar features a radiused fingerboard, laminated figured Maple body with a 10 1/2 in. resonator and open sound well designed to enhance the natural tonal balance and projection.

Hound Dog Dobro -- Made in USA at Affordable Price
Gibson's new Hound Dog Dobro commemorates the beginning of the modern Dobro era while it fills a growing demand for a more affordable American-made resonator guitar. Gibson's Original Acoustic Instruments division offers the Hound Dog in Squareneck and Roundneck versions.

"The Hound Dog name holds an important place in Dobro history as the brand that introduced the Original Musical Instrument company, the forerunner of our OAI division," said Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp. "This new Hound Dog is equally important because it brings a genuine Made-in-USA Dobro within the reach of many more musicians."

The economical Hound Dog is the perfect starter Dobro, with its laminated maple body and original 10ΓΌ in. spider-bridge resonator. Its open sound and well-constructed design enhances and projects the natural tonal balance. Nickel-plated hardware and a rich, hand-rubbed brown finish give it a stylish vintage look. The Squareneck Hound Dog, part of the 60 series, has 12 frets clear of the body and a high nut, making it ideal for slide-style playing, while the Roundneck version has a radiused fingerboard. Both come equipped with Fishman resonator pickups for wider dynamic range.

The Original Musical Instruments company was formed in 1967 by members of the Dopyera family, who had invented the Dobro in 1928. OMI made guitars under the Hound Dog brand until 1970, when the family reacquired the Dobro name. Gibson acquired OMI in 1993 and moved production to Nashville in 1998, combining Dobro, mandolin and banjo production into a new Original Acoustic Instruments division.

The Gibson Hound Dog Dobro is made at The Gibson Bluegrass Showcase in the Opry Mills retail complex, located near the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The 30,000-square-foot facility houses a live performance venue, a retail store with instruments and Gibson wear, a restaurant and the headquarters of Gibson's Original Acoustic Instruments division, where visitors can watch skilled craftsmen at work hand-making Gibson mandolins, banjos and Dobro resonator guitars.
