"THE string for any guitar (good for bass)!"

I have Elixirs on all of the guitars (and bass) I play. This might be the only product that doesn't promise too much in it's commercials. I am the "acid-hand" type guitar collector (auch!), and I never got to enjoy good strings more than for the first songs of a gig. Now I can do it for ten gigs in a row! I replace the plain strings with Martin SP's (bronze plated) every now and then, cause I like their sound more. But the first Elixir wounds stayed for a full 12 months in my strat!

"Very good but not incredible"

Sound:
If you spent over $1000 dollars on a Martin guitar, these strings will bring the sound of your guitar down somewhat of a notch. I really wanted these strings to sound good, especially after all I read on the internet, but the Martin 4200 Phosphor Bronze that came on my D-16RGT are noticably (not a whole lot) better. I don't have corrosive fingers so these strings aren't a must. I'll try SP+ Extended Life next time. Elixer's sound good though on my low end 12 string.

The Elixir Strings Story
Every great guitar product has a story, so what's theirs? We're glad you asked. Sit back, squint at your monitor, and we'll tell you the tale of Elixir Strings... It all starts with music. (Cue John Williams soundtrack here.) They love music, and they have a passion the people that create it. Music enriches and enhances everybody's lives. It reflects the triumphs and tragedies of our world. It is a blessing to our souls.

For those of us that play instruments with strings, this blessing also comes with a curse. It's called dead strings. Nothing can discourage us more than dead lifeless strings. Tired strings are not inspiring, nor are they musical.

With a vision to change the world one set of strings at a time, we set our sights on providing a better life for you, your instrument, and your music. A life of lasting great sound that would inspire you to play, create, and pass along the blessing.

But first, we had to deal with the curse...

What Causes Regular Strings to Go Dead
You do. Every time you pick up your guitar and play, you leave something behind. You are a DNA detectives dream! Under close inspection you can find tiny bits of dead skin, body oils, sweat, left over pizza, and all manners of gunk left behind on your strings. Stuck between the windings of the string, and oozing microscopically down to its core, this gunk causes dampening and dead sounding strings. Not only that, but the environment doesn't help either. Humidity, salty air, club haze, and the like all contribute to the corrosion of your strings! No wonder they always need changing. Until now...

How Elixir Strings Solve These Problems
With the knowledge that gunk between the windings of a string (and goo between the windings and the core) is what causes strings to go dead and sound bad, They charted a path to the cure. Not just any cure, but the cure. If the problem was the gunk and goo that cause contamination and corrosion, then the goal was to protect the windings and core from these enemies of tone! But how?

Starting into uncharted territory, the fearless crew at Elixir busted out the chemistry set and brewed enough Joe to last the journey. They cooked, they coated, they played Beatles songs, they drank too much soda. They encountered many things on the way - like you can't put just anything on the string or wrap wire, or it might harm the tone itself. After many moons, and too much caffeine, our heroes finally arrived at the secret solution.

Elixir Strings are covered with an ultra-thin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone! No more gunk and goo. No more DNA evidence. No kidding.

What's the benefit to you? Elixir Strings deliver great tone and long life - in fact, most players report that Elixir Strings stay sounding great 3 to 5 times longer than ordinary strings.

The Proof is in the Pudding
Out of the petri dish and onto a Les Paul. You probably want to know how the Elixir String magic stands up in the real world, so here's the story of 5 different types of players.

The Player - You Change Strings Every Week
Always practicing, gigging, and perhaps selling current gear to buy different gear! Elixir Strings are perfect for you because their great tone and long life frees you from one less distraction. Day after day, night after night, gig after gig - just great sounding strings. Not only that, but since they last 5 times longer than ordinary strings - you'll spend less time and money on strings, and you can start saving for (or obsessing about) that new amp!

The Recording Player - You Need Sound Consistency
Has this ever happened to you...? You found the coolest guitar sound one evening, and began tracking your latest hit. Three days later you come back to add to the track, but the sound you had the other night is mysteriously gone. The sounds don't match, something has sucked the life out of your Grammy potential tone. More than likely it's your old strings. Bright and snappy one night, dull and lifeless the next. Elixir Strings to the rescue! More and more recording pros are choosing Elixir Strings because they deliver a consistent sound quality that lasts for the entire recording, and longer.

The String Killer - Mr. Evil Acid Hands
Do your friends not let you play their guitars because you'll kill the strings in 10 minutes? Does crusty describe your strings more than the last pizza you ate? Let's face it, some of us were born with the magic touch, others with a corrosive touch. But why should you suffer? Once again, Elixir Strings are the cure for you. With their super Sci-fi coating protecting the strings, you'll get all of the great tone you've always dreamed of. Your strings will stay alive and zesty for way longer than ever before, and you'll play better as your fingers fly over the crust-free zone!

The Collector - 1 of These, 1 of Those, and 14 Others to Boot!
You are the kind of player that appreciates the truth and beauty of a Tele, the grace and refinement of a Tom Anderson DropTop, and the timeless craftsmanship of a fine hollowbody. Oh, to be in your shoes one day! Your main problem is when you go to pull out a guitar that hasn't been played lately, you can't enjoy it because its strings have become corroded, lifeless and dead. If it had Elixir Strings on it, you wouldn't have to worry. Every instrument in your collection could come out of its case and sound as great as the last time you played it. Sweet!

The Casual Player/Beginner - You're Learning to Play, and/or Only Play Occasionally
Elixir Strings have 2 real benefits for you! First, the ultra-cool coating improves the feel of the strings, and makes them less "squeaky" than regular strings. Secondly, since the strings will stay great for a long time, you won't have to worry about them getting crusty and sounding bad, and you can go on enjoying life!

Validation is Everywhere
These are not just mere fairy tales! Consider this part of the Elixir story: more and more discriminating guitar builders and companies are shipping their instruments with Elixir Strings than ever before.
